More Lake Powell

I wanted to list some things about Lake Powell that I know I will forget, probably within the next week :) I had such a blast on this vacation and I want to record all of the things that made this trip so much fun!

-Packing the car was quite the experience. We literally could not fit another pillow into our car. It was packed to the ceiling. And half of it was Holdyn's stuff :) Kirby had her legs up to her chest the entire 4.5 hour drive! We woke Holdyn up at 2 AM and hoped he would go immediately back to sleep. Oh no... He stayed awake for half of the drive and tried to steal Kirby's pillow. And stabbed her with his sword. Poor Kirby :)

-I LOVED taking "baths" with Kirby! We would go down the slide, lather up, and then go down the slide a few more times. But shaving while shivering is dangerous. The razor burn was a killer!

-We played poker with my drunk Grandpa. Matches were a nickle, Seashells were a quarter. Cory shared his Jager with Harry and things ensued. Things I will not put on my family blog, but I for sure won't forget!!

-Cory and I took turns each morning getting up with Holdyn, as we do at home. Cory was very good about getting Holdyn off the boat and on the beach so it was pretty quiet on his mornings. But I was too tired at 8 AM to chase Holdyn around the beach. So we sat on the back of the boat and read books and watched Jon and Grandpa fish. Holdyn held the net for them, just in case :)

- We loved having Kirby there :) She was so much fun and a huge help with Holdyn. Thanks for coming Kirb!!

-Holdyn had 2 baths while we were in Powell. I remember my first bath in Powell. I was crying and didn't want to get in the water. Well, I got thrown into the water! I remember coming up for air and coughing and spitting and crying! And although Cory wanted to do that, I won that battle and Holdyn was gently lowered into the water and was lovingly rinsed off!!

- We were able to take the little fishing boat out a couple nights after Holdyn went to bed and we had some serious laughs out on that boat! Especially when Kirby caught one of those car size Ca Fish, but before we could get him in the boat, he took her line. And she didn't realize it until after she had been reeling for 5 minutes! Cory got to pretend like he was the crocodile hunter too. Could have been the highlight of his vacation!

-My mom and I beat Harry and Cory at Horse Shoes. Cory will never get over that :)

-Grace could not stand that we let Holdyn run around the beach naked. She was thoroughly disgusted, as you can see by her face below!

-I remember going out on my parent's boat and I loved sitting on the back bench and looking at the wake, the huge cliffs, and all of the other boats. So I thought Holdyn would love riding in the boat as well. I was wrong. Holdyn wanted to run around the boat, while we were moving. So it wasn't fun for mom until Holdyn got a little bit tired and laid on my lap. Then I LOVED it :) Cory loved it too...

-Holdyn and Daddy jumped off the houseboat together. Mom had a little bit of a heart attack.

- One night at dinner Holdyn was getting a little ornery. And he started throwing food at Kirby! Well Kirby wasn't having any of that crap. So she threw quesadilla right back at him! It stuck to his forehead and he wasn't quite sure what had hit him! We were cracking up!

- I grabbed some glow sticks at the last minute and forgot about them until the last night. Holdyn and Grace loved them :) Holdyn had sword fights with Dad and Grandma used her evil bubbles to try and get Holdyn and Grace. Thankfully they had their magic glow sticks to ward off her evil. It was very cute!

-Holdyn stayed awake the ENTIRE way home. Yep.
